Trim & Molding

Custom wood trim and molding are elegant design features that beautify your property, and add value to your home. When designing and building a home, architects and contractors use trim and molding for improved aesthetics and for practical purposes.

Molding serves as a transition piece between different planes, e.g. transitioning between a painted wall and a hardwood wood floor or accenting the opening where a door frame meets the wall. Baseboards and trim can conceal gaps that occur in normal construction and from temperature changes when wood shrinks and expands base on air moisture content.

We custom mill all trim and molding specifically for your project.

Wood Types for Trim & Molding

The type of wood used for trim and molding compliments the overall design of your home.

  • Doug Fir

The hardest of the soft woods, Doug Fir is a top choice. It’s dark in color with a distinctive West Coast feel, holds nails and screws, and is naturally scratch resistant.

  • Knotty Alder

When used for door and window trim, Knotty Alder’s holes are often left unfilled to preserve the natural aesthetic of the wood. Alder looks good with wood floors, and stains evenly and easily.

  • Pine

Balanced, even color, naturally pleasant aroma, affordability and ease of milling make pine a great choice for interior trim and molding.
