What is the siding made from?
We capture the simplicity of a bygone era by milling new cedar siding, conditioning the wood, and pre-staining it to give it the look of reclaimed siding.
Conditioning
No more time-wasting scavenging for dilapidated barns and scouring for useable wood. Our durable finished cedar siding is given a gorgeous reclaimed look after we condition the wood using our unique process.
Pre-stained
The wood is protected with our Bodie Ghost Town stain and arrives to the job site ready to install looking as if it were just pulled from a barn.

Bodie Ghost Town Siding & Trim is installed like all other cedar or wood siding. There are no special accommodations needed.

With reclaimed siding or old Barnwood, there are inherent costs and challenges. These are due to breakage, length structure, and milling fees. Bodie Ghost Town Siding & Trim will save you the need to order 30% – 50% additional material.
The Bodie Process
Bodie Ghost Town Siding and Trim is created from new cedar.
First, a proprietary conditioning solution is applied to the cedar board. A reaction to the tannins in the wood occurs. The Bodie Solution accelerates the natural aging process of cedar. Both sunlight and water are needed for this activation. No more additional maintenance is recommended.
Simply letting the cedar age into its natural beauty is one of the outstanding properties of Bodie Ghost Town. Old Barnwood, recycled and reclaimed wood products are usually made from doug fir, spruce, etc. none of these species possess the natural tannins and excellent wood properties of cedar. These features make Bodie Ghost Town Siding & Trim a superior building product.
